New home in Dubai

Dubai new home to Serenade of the Seas
Royal Caribbean has announced it will base Serenade of the Seas in Dubai for the 2012/2013-winter season.

The 2,114-passenger cruise ship will take over from sister vessel Brilliance of the Seas, which is currently based in the Gulf.

Royal Caribbean will sail Serenade of the Seas on 17 seven-night voyages out of Dubai, with an itinerary that includes Muscat, Oman and Fujairah and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. There are also plans for an 11-night experience incorporating both a guided land and sea tour called the Arabian Explorer Cruise Tour.

Dubai’s new cruise terminal opened in February 2010 in a bid to help attract more cruise companies to the region.

It is expected that by 2015, 195 ships will bring 575,000 passengers into Dubai, compared with 2010 when 120 ships docked with 325,000 passengers.

Brilliance of the Seas will take over Serenade of the Sea’s current position in the Caribbean.
Royal Caribbean will keep Serenade of the Seas in Dubai until April 15, 2013 sailing that will bring her back to Barcelona.
