Busiest Airport in SEA

The Jakarta International ranked busiest Airport in SEA

The Jakarta Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK) is hailed as the busiest airport in Southeast Asia, receiving 43.7-million passengers in 2010, a 17.7% increase from 2009.
According to official data released by Angkasa Pura, the airport authority, passenger traffic has grown by 15% every year since 2008. The Jakarta CGK has an international traffic amounting to 20-22% of total passengers which is equivalent to nine million travellers, as reported. The Indonesian government has acknowledged the need for more investments to meet the expected growth in passenger traffic in the coming years. The government plans to take on a programme called ‘World Class Airport’ to upgrade its airport facilities that includes expansion of Terminal 3; construction of Terminal 4; and building a dedicated rail link from Jakarta city centre to the airport.
The Jakarta CGK can currently accommodate 18-million passengers. After the airport development projects, the airport is expected to have total capacity of 60-million passengers by 2016.
