Delhi Metro Screened

Delhi Metro screened at the International Film Festival
The film titled ‘The Dream Fulfilled – Memories of the Engineering Challenges’ is a 30 minute documentary which highlights the technical difficulties and challenges faced by the engineers during the construction of Delhi Metro’s Phase two under which 125 kilometres of Metro lines were constructed in only four and a half years.
The film screened on Saturday, was widely appreciated by delegates and critics, from across the world. It was introduced to the audience by Sh. Shankar Mohan, Director, IFFI. The film is slated for a repeat screening on December 3rd, the concluding day of the 10 day long festival.
Screened under the `Indian Panorama` section of the festival, the film has made heavy use of international quality 3 Dimensional (3D) graphics to depict the various engineering challenges that the DMRC confronted during the construction work, in such an easy manner, that people with non-engineering backgrounds would also easily understand.
The film showcases the various challenges that the DMRC team faced such as the construction of a bridge with a 100 metre span at Okhla over railway tracks, the signature bridge over the Ring Road at Moolchand, the viaduct over Dhaula Kuan, the Zamrudpur mishap and its eventual timely completion, the construction of a steel made station at Chattarpur etc.
DMRC’s second phase of construction ranks as one of the most challenging engineering projects taken up in any urban centre across the world. 125 kilometes of Metro lines across seven corridors were built in only four and a half years, which is among the fastest anywhere in the world.
The International Film Festival of India, held every year in Goa, is the most prestigious film festival organised in the country. It is one of the most respected film festivals in the global festival circuit in which thousands of filmmakers and critics participate every year.
