Unveils new first class on A380's
Lufthansa's flagship inaugural flight landed at New York, JFK Airport on February 28 from Frankfurt. Daily service will start in April to/from JFK; introduced a brand-new first-class cabin on North American routes from inaugural flight.The new first-class cabin, located on the upper deck along with a 98-seat business class, features eight seats measuring 81 inches long and 31 inches wide and two expansive bathrooms with changing and lavatory sections. The lower deck of the 526-seat, three-class airplane is dedicated to 420 economy-class seats in 94 rows.
A380 service on the New York route will go daily in April nonstop, A380 flights from Frankfurt to San Francisco are planned for later in the year (May 2011), according to Lufthansa officials.
The German flag carrier, which took delivery of its first A380 last May, is the third airline, after Emirates Airline and Air France, to serve New York with the double-decker aircraft.
Lufthansa Airline has ordered 15 A380s in total, to be delivered through 2015.
